Ctrip buys Skyscanner for $1,74 billion

Great news for today from our client – Skyscanner. This Scotland-based flight search company is now in hands of Chinese online travel giant Ctrip for mind-boggling $1,74 billion. This is one of the biggest acquisitions of all time in the web industry.

According to Fortune.com, Ctrip expects to complete the deal by the end of 2016. After the deal, Skyscanner’s current management team would continue to manage the firm’s operations independently.

Why is it so important?

Well, Skyscanner, which provides price comparison data on hotels, flight, and car hire for 60 million customers, has been rumored to be considering a stock market float for several years. And there is no surprise that for this unicorn could queue only a big fish. The company hires 700 staff across 10 offices, and with the beginning of 2016 raised $192 million for worldwide expansion.

Congratulations!

At Miquido we are delighted to say congratulations to Skyscanner’s staff. It is an even more joyful day in our headquarter because we have been working together with Skyscanner on their car rental mobile application. Working with top-notch travel e-business like Skyscanner gave us an extremely important experience which we couldn’t get anywhere else. We are also glad that we could make a small contribution to your astonishing success.

Best wishes from our Team and hopefully, see you at Mobiconf 2017!
