About our solutions
Herbalife GO
The goal of the Herbalife Go project was to create a backend template automatically creating infrastructure on the AWS platform. The ultimate aim was to create a solution of maximum flexibility. It would allow the owner to set up a new project with just one click.
How is that possible? Within several code repositories, we developed the template together with various configurable terraform modules. We combined the modules into one ready-to-use template, creating the AWS infrastructure. Thanks to that, the backend project is pre-configured and ready for further development, which greatly reduces the project’s set-up time.
The solution uses a wide range of AWS services. We kept the source code in the AWS CodeCommit, and we used AWS CodeBuild and CodePipeline to build the project. We used AWS ECS to deploy the container with the backend application. As a database solution, we used AWS RDS Aurora. Aurora allows for scaling the database automatically, depending on its load. We used AWS ElasticCache to cache the app’s data.
The app’s API is defined in the AWS API Gateway. It is created on the basis of the OpenAPI specification generated by the backend. The frontend is stored on AWS S3 and served to the user by AWS Cloudfront. Monitoring in the form of logs, metrics and alarms is provided by AWS CloudWatch. AWS Web Application Firewall watches over application security.
Nextbank Credit Scoring
Finalist at Singapore Fintech Festival 2019
The aim of the project was to create an AI credit scoring solution able to calculate credit risk for a given loan application based on Machine Learning model instead of limited and hard to maintain scorecards. Nextbank decided to give AWS cloud services a go. It allowed them to easily scale their solution in the future, depending on the amount of data.
The main challenge our team faced was the amount of customer data and the size of the instance needed to process it. As a result, we created a terraform module that Nextbank could then easily implement for each of their own customers.
We used AWS S3 to store the project’s simple frontend, while AWS CloudFront brings it to the user. Our team built the prediction service in Java and hosted it with AWS Beanstalk. On the other hand, we created the prediction module in Python 3.6 on AWS Lambda. Monitoring in the form of logs, metrics and reports is provided by AWS CloudWatch. Cumulative prediction reports module and the training module run periodically as the Fargate task on ECS. We stored the app’s data in AWS S3, and for the database we used AWS RDS with a PostgreSQL. Last but not least, we used AWS Route53 for domain and certificate management.
